South African Football Association Cape Town (SAFA Cape Town) is thrilled to announce a landmark sponsorship agreement with MASITA, an international leader in sportswear production looking to make its mark in South Africa through a comprehensive partnership with local amateur football structures.

This strategic partnership marks a significant step forward in enriching local football culture and promoting sports excellence across the City of Cape Town.

Through this collaboration, MASITA is set to become the official technical sponsor for SAFA Cape Town, underlining both organizations’ commitment to fostering the growth of football in the region.

The sponsorship, valued at over R800,000.00 (EUR 40,000) annually over four years, will not only enhance the sporting experience for players but also bring MASITA’s high-quality sportswear and products closer to the South African audience.

The deal was officially concluded during a SAFA Cape Town Management Committee meeting where the brand was represented via video conference and an opportunity was created for further appreciation and comment from both sides. “I am extremely delighted and excited to be on this deal and South Africa has a great place for me personally in my heart,” says Mr. Vivek Kohli, Managing Director of the Netherlands-based MASITA brand.

AFA Cape Town President, Bennett Bailey stated: “The sponsorship came at the right time. The time when we look at how best to rebrand our competitions to speak to the needs of our constituency. Masita takes us into this new journey of rebranding our competitions.”

A first for amateur football

MASITA, through this first-of-its-kind sponsorship of an amateur football organisation in Cape Town, will provide four sets of apparel to all four of SAFA Cape Town’s flagship representative teams, and two sets to the Under 14 & 16 age groups, and will also provide match kits to all teams participating in the Youth Challenge Cup.

This ground-breaking sponsorship also sees MASITA providing specialised referee apparel for the SAFA Cape Town competition officials to ensure consistency across all SAFA Cape Town competitions over the sponsorship period. Additional equipment as and when required at discounted rates will be available to SAFA Cape Town, significantly benefiting the 35 Local Football Associations under SAFA Cape Town.

The sponsorship will introduce MASITA’s sportswear through various initiatives and tournaments such as the newly rebranded Youth Challenge Cup. MASITA will also hold the rights as the official ball across all SAFA Cape Town competitions, training, and development projects.

The SAFA Cape Town Regional Executive Committee will also receive their own branded apparel in the form of tracksuits while the deal also includes apparel for ball boys and girls and clothing for flag bearers and support staff at special events.

A future forward

This partnership paves the way for establishing MASITA sales outlets within the Cape Metro area, offering accessible, high-quality sportswear to the local football community.

Both SAFA Cape Town and MASITA are committed to working together to promote sports development and enhance the football landscape in South Africa.
